Heading to the Zoo

Our arrival in Chongqing.  This is the end of our Yangtze Cruise and our itinerary today includes the Chongqing Zoo.

Many of the old ways to carry large items are still used.

One of our waitresses from the cruise is also debarking today.  She is here with our friend Janet from New Zealand.

Chongqing Zoo, home to many rare animals.

Incredible vegetation and flowers all around the zoo grounds.

Tai Chi practice at the zoo.

The Giant Panda.....so fun to watch.  There are about 500 plus Giant Pandas living in captivity.  The last survey in 2014 reported only about 1800 in the wild?

An Azure-winged Magpie.  A bit camera shy.

Relaxing and grounding with Tai Chi.

A rare White Bengal Tiger with the bluest eyes.  There are about 4,000 living in the wild.

Chinese White Egrets

My old friend still munching on bamboo.

Incredible surroundings to practice the art of Tai Chi.

The friendliest children giving me the peace sign.

A Bengal Tiger....looked hungry to me...just saying.

I love this.

A resting Pelican.

A Red Panda is about the size of a large cat with a tail that is bushy and up to 18 inches long.  Adorable.  Because of poaching and loss of their habitats, there are only about 10,000 of these creatures alive in the world.

My best shot of the Red Panda.  A far cry from the Giant Panda.

And still eating.....

THAT was a great day.  If you haven't been to the zoo since you were a kid, check it out.  You feel like a kid again.
