Our 1st Day in Beijing, China....Flora and Fauna Paradise.

After a very long flight, 13-14 hours, with a 12 hour difference in time zone, we are very thrilled to have arrived safely in Beijing, China. First things first....sleep. Next morning we begin our day with our feet hitting the pavement. After a yummy breakfast, which included Western and Eastern foods, we discovered a Garden Expo is directly located behind our hotel. So off we go....exploring before we meet our tour. Everywhere we went, these were the kinds of brooms used by the Chinese. We learned right away that we (Westerners) were a bit of a novelty to the Chinese people. This gentle women was working on these incredible gardens when she stopped what she was doing, to get a photo together. I tried to share our delight in her beautiful gardens and I believe she did understand. I have come to realize, that they are interested and fascinated by our 'big noses and big feet?' Climbing The Red Pagoda

Eventually we knew that the rain had to catch up with us.....and it definitely did when we arrived at Zhongxian County to climb The Red Pagoda. The local women washing in the river....feeling very grateful for things we take for granted. In the photo below: On the far left is the Red Pagoda, with the Drunken Bridge on the right. The Red Pagoda was built to help people who wanted to visit the Buddhist Temple at the top of the crag which is about 660 feet tall. It is 12 floors high and basically consists of creaky and unstable ladders-type steps. Built without one single nail! And we are off..... You again have a choice of options besides walking. One is this excellent chair lift. I bought silk pyjamas from one of the vendors along our tour to the Pagoda. A little bigger size than these. This elderly man just watching the hoards of visitors descending on his village. The gate way to the Drunken Bridge. Named

Last Stop...Shanghai, China

Our last stop on this amazing trip will be Shanghai, China. Can't believe we are almost done. It has been more than I could have ever have imagined. Unpacking....last time. Delicious breakfast with North American and Chinese items. Best ever! Our crew in the back of the bus...heading out for the day. Alex and Janet from New Zealand, Paula, Mickey, Anne from Ottawa, and of course Debbie. I believe this was simply named the Shanghai Museum. So much to see. But I have to be honest, we were dying for a cappuccino. In China, coffee is only served at breakfast. Funny because when we were at the cafe at the museum, we were joined by many of our fellow travellers. And of course a wee treat to go along with the amazing coffee. That cake should be illegal.....it's was so good.
